OUR SPOKESPERSON: HANA ROMER
Hana Romer is a Marine Corps veteran - and a Marine Corps spouse - who served 10 years on active duty as an aviation ordnance technician. She served in Operation Iraqi Freedom and was part of the Unit Deployment Program to Iwakuni, Japan. Mrs. Romer was also a Marine Corps recruiter and was named Recruiting Station Orange’s “Rookie Recruiter of the Year” in 2009.
After being honorably discharged in 2012, she attended Texas A&M University and was a member of Texas A&M’s Student Veterans Association. Additionally, she volunteered at a local nonprofit working with pregnant and at-risk teens. Mrs. Romer graduated Magna Cum Laude and was a recipient of the Henry Ross Scholastic Achievement Award for graduating with the highest grade-point-average in her major.
Hana currently serves on the advisory board for the Military Family Advisory Network and her involvement with this organization has included various projects ranging from base housing issues and food insecurity within the military.
In 2020, Mrs. Romer was named the Armed Forces Insurance, MCAS Yuma, Military Spouse of the Year, and has used her title to be an advocate for military families in Yuma. Hana and her husband, Nick, have been married for 13 years and have two children together.
Since getting out of the Marine Corps, she has been a proud Marine spouse and support system for her husband as he continues to serve. They have lived in four states and have moved six times during their marriage (so far)! The Romer Family will be headed to Monterey (CA) in May of 2021 for Nick to begin a Masters Program at the Naval Postgraduate School. Hana and Nick currently reside in Yuma (AZ) with their daughter, Dannika, and their son Mattis (yes…named after General James Mattis).
